Ballina is set for a bumper May Bank Holiday weekend in 2026.
Head of the Municipal District Declan Turnbull told last week’s meeting of councillors that the recent Fleadh Cheoil Maigh Eo held in the town was a great success and will be held on the May Bank Holiday weekend next year, coinciding with the Mayo.ie Western People Women’s Mini-Marathon, which is returning to Ballina having been held in Castlebar this year. Mayo Day will also be celebrated that weekend.
Cllr Michael Loftus warmly welcomed the news.
“The Mini-Marathon is coming back to Ballina next year. We fought hard for it and it is a really big thing for the town to see it coming back,” he said.
