Excitement is beginning to bubble as following the success of last year’s event as part of the Ballina 2023 celebrations, the Mayo.ie Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini-Marathon will return to Ballina again for a second time.

The event, which is organised by Mayo Sports Partnership in conjunction with Mayo.ie and the Western People and supported by Moy Valley Resources IRD, Ballina AC and Moy Valley AC, will take place on Sunday, May 5, at 12 noon.

It promises to be a special day in Ballina, but if you cannot make it on the day, you can still participate in the 10k race. The virtual race option, which proved popular during the Covid-19 pandemic, will make its return this year.

The first 1,900 entries will receive a free t-shirt and medal, which can be posted to people who enter virtually (postal option closes on April 23). For all the early birds who sign up, you will be in with a chance to win a luxurious overnight stay for two with dinner in Mount Falcon’s award-winning kitchen restaurant. Closing date for the early bird is on Sunday next.

To sign up for the virtual race, visit eventmaster.ie.
