Mayo councillor Michael Burke announced in a social media post that he has received support from Mayo County Council Director of Services, Tom Gilligan, for the development of a swimming pool in Ballinrobe.
Councillor Burke stated: “This is a service so badly needed in Ballinrobe and South Mayo and I have been raising it for many years. This is the first time I have seen a positive response to the need for a swimming pool in Ballinrobe from Mayo County Council senior staff. This is as a result of people’s needs being expressed in the Community Futures project.”
Councillor Burke also emphasised, “This is very early days in what will be a long long process but it’s great to see first steps have been taken.”
