Planning sought for new caravan park in Mayo tourism hotspot

Planning permission is being sought for the tourism development

Approval is being sought for a new caravan park on Achill Island.

A planning application has been lodged with Mayo County Council seeking permission to construct a caravan park for 61 mobile homes in Keel.

The facility is being designed with short-term stays in mind for the 16-acre site.

The project will be made up of 61 mobile home pitches and 20 camper van pitches. A site reception, communal building, toilets, and shower block is also proposed.

The park also aims to have an Aire in place. This is a designated, overnight parking spot for self-contained motorhomes and campervans. This allow motorhome users the opportunity to avail of electricity, fill up with fresh water and dispose of their grey water and chemical toilet waste in a safe manner.
