Matthew Mullahy RIP.

Castlebar has been left reeling following the death of a talented young sportsman.

Castlebar Mitchels and Castlebar Celtic have paid tribute to Matthew Mullahy, following passing at the weekend.

Matthew, from Ballyneggin, Castlebar, represented both clubs with distinction.

"All at Castlebar Mitchels are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our member Matthew.

"Matthew was a very talented player and a great team-mate who played on our underage teams all the way up through the club.

"He played a pivotal role in the club winning a county Under-16A title in 2020.

"Last season he played on our Under-21 and Junior teams with the style and flair that he always brought to the game.

"We send our sincere condolences to his parents Sean and Grace, his brother Conor and all the Mullahy and McHale families and friends," said Castlebar Mitchels in a post on social media.

Castlebar Celtic said the club was devastated by the news of Matthew’s death.

"Matthew was part of our Under-21 and Super League squads last season. We extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family."
