Nicola helps raise funds for new children's hospice

The Sunflower Children's Hospice has benefitted from a fundraiser organised by a Ballina woman.

Nicola Clarke hosted the Paint and Prosecco fundraising evening at Rouse's Bar, Ballina, on Thursday, October 15th, which raised a fantastic €460 for the proposed new hospice in Castlebar. Developed by Mayo-Roscommon Hospice, it is the first children's hospice outside Dublin and will provide vital care to children and their families.

Paint & Prosecco sees participants create their own painting under the instruction of an expert artist while enjoying a glass of bubbly or drink of their choice.

"It was a lovely evening," said Nicola, "and I'm so grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event. I'd especially like to thank Rouse's Bar for kindly hosting the evening and Anne Marie Clarke for generously giving her time to lead the painting class."

The event was a major milestone for Nicola who is recovering from a health scare earlier this year.

"The fundraiser was part of a very personal journey for me. Earlier this year, I suffered an ectopic pregnancy that required life saving surgery, followed by a difficult period of recovery. Since then, I've made a commitment to rebuilding my health and fitness, and I'm proud to have completed the Achill Half Marathon in July of this year.

"I'm now preparing to take on Sea2Summit in Westport in November and the Manchester Marathon in April 2027, raising much needed funds and awareness for Sunflower Children's Hospice along the way."

Congrats to Nicola on a fantastic initiative and well done to all those who took part in this important fundraiser.
