Motorist caught driving at over 160km/h in freezing conditions on busy Mayo road

On New Year's Eve, on a busy N5 in Charlestown, Mayo Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 161km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Temperatures were down to 2c.
The novice driver was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving.
An Garda Síochána Mayo has asked motorists to take extra care on the roads and give more time for the journey ahead.
