Minister of State Dara Calleary is to open new Platform94 extension in Galway city

Minister of State Dara Calleary will open the new extension at Platform94.

The Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Dara Calleary TD, will be in Galway this Friday, February 23, to officially open the new extension at Platform94. 

The event will take place at 11am on Friday at Platform94’s headquarters in Mervue Business Park, Galway.

The Galway city location, which acts as the headquarters for Platform94 and first opened its doors in February 1994, has increased substantially to 66,000 sq ft across four floors – 11 times its original size. 

In addition to the physical expansion, Platform94 has significantly extended its remit in facilitating the development and expansion of the tech cluster and knowledge economy across the entire western region. 

As the largest technology innovation centre in the west of Ireland, it is estimated Platform94 will bring a Gross Added Value (GVA) of over €66.8 million to the regional economy in 2024.

Platform94 is a growing tech hub for the most innovative startups and scaling enterprises in and around the West of Ireland. It was stablished by the Digital Task Force in 1994 to encourage the development of technology-based industry in the West.

The organisation also acts as a soft-landing site for established multinationals looking for a base in the region. 

Platform94 has facilted an estimated 3,000 jobs in the West since its inception and supported more than 300 companies during the same timeframe.
