Mayo playground 'in need of freshening up'
A North Mayo councillor has called on Mayo County Council to include Ballycastle playground for upgrade works as soon as a funding opportunity becomes available.
Cllr Jarlath Munnelly, who is currently the Cathaoirleach of Ballina Municipal District, made his comments at the May monthly meeting of the municipal district. The Fine Gael councillor said Ballycastle playground was "a lovely development when it was first done but it just needs a bit of freshening up".
Fianna Fáil Cllr Annie May Reape and Fine Gael Cllr John O’Hara both expressed their support for Cllr Munnelly's suggestion.
Head of the municipal district Anna Connor assured councillors that she will follow up on the request.
