Mayo hosts Soroptimists' public speaking competition

The 44th annual Soroptimist International Republic of Ireland Girls’ Public Speaking Competition concluded today in the beautiful surrounds of Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar, with Sandsiwe O Khupe from St Aidan’s Community College, Tallaght, emerging as this year’s national winner.
Sandsiwe captivated the judges and audience alike with her thought-provoking speech on the topic of Partnership and the Empowerment of Women, and impressed again in the impromptu round, speaking eloquently on the theme of Sunshine.
She now joins the prestigious ranks of 43 remarkable young women who have won the competition since its inception—each one a shining example of the next generation’s potential to inspire, lead, and make a difference.
National President Anne O’Sullivan praised the standard of this year’s competition and offered warm congratulations to the winner:
“This competition continues to be one of the most uplifting and inspiring events in our Soroptimist calendar. The passion, intelligence, and confidence shown by these young women is truly extraordinary. It gives me such hope for the future.

The Soroptimist Girls’ Public Speaking Competition encourages young women to develop confidence, articulate their views, and engage in meaningful discourse on topics that matter. The competition continues to empower and uplift, creating a platform for future changemakers across Ireland.
