The dispute over the decision to relocate school bus drop-off and pick-up points from Davitt College in Castlebar to Stephen Garvey Way has been partially resolved, following significant engagement from Minister Alan Dillon with local schools and Bus Éireann.

Having spoken with Bus Éireann, Minister Dillon has confirmed that the current arrangement for Davitt College will remain in place from September. The focus now shifts to identifying a suitable solution for students attending St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar.

Minister Dillon is actively working alongside the school principal and management, who are engaging with Castlebar Municipal District to determine an appropriate alternative bus stop location that ensures safety and convenience for students.

"I wish to acknowledge the invaluable work carried out by the school transport team in Ballina, who continue to support student transportation across the county. Their dedication is instrumental in providing reliable services, and I look forward to collaborating with them further on this important issue for the students and parents of Castlebar," said Minister Dillon.
