The man who died following a road traffic collision involving a quad bike on Achill Island has been named locally.

The man who died following a road traffic collision involving a quad bike on Achill Island has been named locally.

The fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision occurred last Sunday afternoon (June 30) on the road to Purteen Harbour, off the R319, near Keel.

The man (87), who was known as Michael Gallagher, was from San Francisco in the United States.

Gardaí in Achill are continuing to ask the public for assistance in their investigation into this collision.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the vicinity of Keel, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, last afternoon, Sunday 30th June 2024, between 1pm and 2pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
