Inquest into death of Mayo man found dead after leaving MUH fixed for June

Coroner Patrick O'Connor has fixed the inquest into the death of Patrick Rowland for three days from June 17 until June 19

An inquest hearing into the death of Patrick Rowland, from Lahardane, has been fixed by the Coroner for Mayo, Pat O'Connor for three days in June.

Mr Rowland, a father of three adult children, left the emergency department of Mayo University Hospital in the early hours of January 17, 2023, and is believed to have fallen into the Castlebar River.

His body was recovered from a stretch of the river, close to the N5 roundabout in Turlough, two days later.

Roger Murray, of Callan Tansey Solicitors, who is representing the family, has said the family had significant concerns about the circumstances surrounding Mr Rowland's disappearance from the hospital and how he was allowed to leave the facility.

The inquest hearing has been scheduled for three days from June 17 up to and including June 19, which will be held at Swinford Courthouse.
