Houses to be refurbished in Mayo town

Two burnt-out houses in the Claremorris area are due to be fully refurbished by the end of 2025.

Cllr Richard Finn raised a notice of motion regarding the two houses in Clareville Estate, at last week’s area meeting.

He described the houses as ‘an eyesore’ and said they have been the scene of anti-social behaviour in the recent past.

Area engineer Conrad Harley said the houses have recently been acquired by the Council.

Mr Harley said the Department of Housing gave approval under the Buy and Renew Scheme for a full refurbishment of the two houses and they are on the Central Housing Refurbishment Programme for 2025 to be delivered by that year’s end.
