Green light for 68-home estate in Mayo
Mayo Co Council has granted permission for a 68-home development in Castlebar despite some local concerns.
The development at Garryduff Park West is being undertaken by MGB Land Holdings Limited and will consist of eight semi-detached, 14 duplex and 46 terraced homes of a mix of one, two, three and four-beds. The site forms part of an overall masterplan development consisting of three sites. It will also include a vehicular and pedestrian/cycle access point to Garryduff Park (also facilitating other/future phases of housing subject to separate planning applications).
Local residents groups highlighted a number of concerns including housing density, flooding, biodiversity and an increase in traffic. Planning has been approved subject to 25 conditions.
Last month the same developer received planning permission for the construction of 38 mixed residential units at Knockaphunta.
