Funding approved for Mayo's islands 

Clare Island Lighthouse, Clare Island, Clew Bay, Co. Mayo.

Grants for various minor capital works on the islands of Mayo under the Islands Minor Capital Works 2024 programme have been approved.

These grants, totalling €121,894, will fund essential infrastructure improvements, enhancing the quality of life for island residents and visitors.

On Clare Island, there will be pier and road improvement works, the replacement of a cattle grid and the installation of a solar streetlight.

A solar streetlight will also be installed on Inishturk.

Car park works will be carried out at Roonagh Pier, Inishturk and Doran’s Point, Ballycroy.

Mobility improvements will be carried out on Inishbiggle.

Minister of State Alan Dillon welcomed the allocation of funding to Mayo's islands.

“These investments will ensure that the islands continue to thrive, providing better infrastructure and facilities for all,” he said.
