One school and three community groups across Mayo are set to receive a share of €176,616 under Measure 1 of the Government’s CLÁR Programme.

€50,000 will go to works at Bohola Community Park, with Louisburgh Community Futures CLG receiving just short of that with €49,500 allocated.

Burrishoole Community Partnership will receive €44,616, while €32,500 goes to Garracloon National School in Knockmore.

Mayo Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon welcomed today's news.

“The CLÁR funding announced today will help support recreational areas for schools and communities in Mayo,” Deputy Dillon said. “I am delighted that these brilliant organisations in Bohola, Knockmore, Louisburgh and Burrishoole are supported by this funding. I want to acknowledge the support received from Minister [Heather] Humphreys in securing this vital funding which will significantly contribute to improving the facilities in these areas.

“I understand how important it is to prioritise sustainable rural development and the CLÁR programme is a great scheme to help make our communities better places to live, work and raise families. Schools and community groups work alongside Mayo County Council to put forward these initiatives and the CLÁR funding is then crucial to getting the projects over the line.

“These projects are hugely important to our local communities. It is important that as a government we continue to invest in rural Ireland in as many ways as possible. The Clár programme is a fantastic way that we can continue to do this.”

Michael Ring TD said he was delighted to confirm that the funding has been awarded to four very worthy projects in Mayo.

“CLÁR is a targeted investment programme for rural areas that aims to provide funding for small infrastructural projects in rural areas. This targeted investment can have a huge impact on small rural communities,” Deputy Ring said. “Time and time again, we have seen the very positive impact that funding of this nature can have on local communities. These projects help communities to thrive and develop”.

“The Government are committed to investing in rural Ireland and improving the quality of life for rural areas. This funding is very welcome news.”
