Fond memories of 'kind' Mayo man following recent passing
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
COMMUNITY NOTES: NORTH MAYO - WESTERN PEOPLE (MARCH 3 EDITION)
Fond memories were recalled, and many tributes paid to the late Francis Rutledge, Newtown Cloghans, Knockmore during his concelebrated Requiem Mass celebrated on Tuesday last, February 24.
Francis, late of Newtown, Cloghans, went to his eternal reward in the loving care of the staff in St Agustine’s Home in Ballina in his 95th year. His remains reposed in McGowan’s Funeral Home on the Monday evening and his removal took place to St Teresa’s Church, Rathduff on the Tuesday morning for his 11am Requiem Mass. Their extended family, neighbours and friends gathered to pay their final respects to a much-loved member of the community.
During the homily, chief celebrant Fr Micheal Comer (family cousin) spoke fondly of his cousin Francis and of the welcome his family household extended to them during their annual holidays down the years. He paid tribute to Francis for his services to the local community as postmaster, where his kind, helpful and loyal service down the years endeared him to so many.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
