'Do Not Swim' notice issued for popular North Mayo bathing spot

A ‘Do Not Swim’ Notice had to be issued for a popular North Mayo bathing spot.

On Wednesday, a Bathing Prohibition notice (also known as a ‘Do Not Swim’ notice) was served for both Shore Road, Belmullet, and the Belmullet Tidal Pool.

The closure was put in place due to poor water quality in the tidal pool, with resampling due to take place to re-evaluate the quality before allowing swimmers to enter again.

The advisory, which was also shared on social media by Belmullet Tidal Pool, comes amid fears that high tides could further affect water quality in the pool. The closure was put in place until further notice.
