Dangerous hill to be surveyed ahead of potential safety works

A meeting of Ballina Municipal District heard that the works are needed in the Behy Road area.
A dangerous hill in the Behy Road area of Ballina is to be surveyed for potential safety works to be carried out.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Annie May Reape told a meeting of Ballina Municipal District that works are needed to improve the safety of the hill in the Quignashee area beside the Ballyholan turnoff. The location is about 500 metres from Behy National School.
Cllr Reape also called for a feasibility study to establish if a safe cycle route can be constructed from Behy Road Business Park to the National School.
Senior engineer Declan Ginnelly said a survey would be carried out on the section of road at the Behy/Ballyholan junction to establish what works, if any, are needed.
He said he has also recommended that the principal of Behy NS follow up with An Taisce for a Safe Routes to School Programme to assess the feasibility of the construction of a Safe Cycle Route.
