Congratulations: Local man wins major Mayo fishing competition

Mount Falcon’s own Fisheries Manager, Michael Egan, took home the top spot in the Irish Open Spey Championship held on the River Moy in Foxford over the weekend.
The competition was fierce right to the end, with Michael tying for first place alongside Limerick man Martin Kiely.
Both anglers returned to the water for a tie-breaker cast—and incredibly, they matched each other again with identical distances. With fatigue setting in and no clear winner, the judges turned to the final three casts to determine who had performed best overall.
In the end, it was Michael who came out on top, securing a hard-fought and well-deserved win.
Well done to all who took part in this fantastic event, and a big thank you to Foxford Riverfest for hosting and supporting the competition.
