Complaints over bus connection from Claremorris to Galway

The bus connection from Claremorris to Galway is causing chaos for people due to waiting times between connecting services.

Cllr Adrian Forkan told last week's meeting of Mayo County Council that "people coming back in the evening [from Galway] are being left stranded and cannot get home to Kiltimagh or Swinford". Cllr Forkan said he was aware of a case where two women were "left stranded in Galway" after attending medical services. He said the bus in Claremorris also has to wait until the Galway bus comes in, meaning there can be a long delay.

The Fianna Fáil councillor said bus shelters in Kiltimagh and Swinford are also needed.

Independent Cllr Richard Finn agreed and added that the bus doesn’t leave Claremorris until 6.30pm each evening so people who finish work at 5pm are left waiting around.
