Beloved Mayo bar and restaurant closes

The owners of JJ O'Malley’s Bar and Restaurant, located at the top of Bridge Street in Westport, took to Facebook to say a final farewell.
Anna Barnard and Steve Byrne wrote: “Saying goodbye to O’Malleys has been both bittersweet and surreal. This place was a huge part of our lives for 24 years. We will miss our customers as well as our staff - who have become like family.
“The class of 2024 have formed friendships and memories for life. They have been a hard-working, loyal and fun-loving team! Thank you to all for ensuring we went out on a high.”
The pair go on to thank the staff, customers and musicians.
The popular bar and restaurant will open its doors again under new ownership.
