Minister of State Dara Calleary has welcomed the funding announcement of €150,000 for Belleek Woods Ballina.

"I am delighted that €150,000 has been awarded to the rejuvenating of ponds at Belleek Woods," he said.

"This is a funding partnership between Coillte and Department of Rural and Community Development and is a testament to the dedication of many people who are working to maintain and grow our beloved Belleek.

"Congrats and thank you to all involved in this funding submission"

Figures also released today show that just under 87000 people visited and used Belleek in 2023.

"On so many levels Belleek is a jewel in our crown-investments such as this will help us protect its nature and biodiversity whilst enhancing its attractiveness to visitors," he said.
