Garron Noone unveils the beautiful mural created by LKBK Foróige Club for the Sensory Garden.

The Lacken Tractor Run 2024 took place earlier this month and saw tractors, combine harvesters, vintage cars, rally cars, bikes and scooters merge from high roads and byroads onto Lacken Strand to fundraise for the local Sensory Garden.

As the vehicles rolled in from the parishes of Lacken, Kilfian, Crossmolina, Killala and Ballycastle so too did the money with this hugely successful event raising just shy of €5,700.

The money raised will be used for the completion of a pond, the construction of The Zen Den shelter and the erection of high quality gates to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Special guest on the day was Ballina’s own, comedian and TikToker Garron Noone, who travelled especially from Dublin for the event.

On arrival, Garron’s first duty was the unveiling of a beautiful mural created by LKBK Foróige Club for the Sensory Garden. This was a momentous occasion for local Foróige members and the community.

Next a spectacular burst of confetti signaled the start of the Tractor Run and the children on their vehicles, guided by the many vigilant traffic stewards led the main convoy out onto the strand.

The rev of the 87 engines and hooting of horns created wild vibes and the atmosphere was electric. The convoy, led by Patrick Breslin Homeland Killala, snaked down along Lacken Strand, by Downpatrick Head, into the picturesque town of Ballycastle and onto The Enterprise Centre, Kilcummin.

Declan Gillespie, of 'Light Up Letters Connaught', transformed the event into an unforgettable experience by providing sound, commentary and entertainment as the vehicles congregated, setting the upbeat tone for the day.

The event was captured by Angela Kelly of Wild Atlantic Imagesaok with stunning aerial views as the Strand provided an idyllic backdrop.

Garron Noone later entertained a large crowd at the centre as they enjoyed home-baked goodies, refreshments and a barbeque, with a raffle also taking place.

The party atmosphere continued at Bessie’s Bar where locals took to the dance floor for a spot of line dancing led by Marie Ruane. The final raffle took place and stories of the day were shared while Padraig Moran blasted out some fine country tunes, bringing this memorable occasion to a close.
