A local community is up in arms over the removal of signs advertising their local bingo games.
Cllr John O'Hara told last week's meeting of the Ballina Municipal District that the community in Ardagh were left annoyed after signs promoting their weekly bingo game, which takes place every Saturday at 8pm in the Ardagh Community Centre, were taken down in the last few weeks.
"It is annoying that something small like this would be taken away. The signs were on their own local roads, they were not on the main road," he said.
Area engineer Orla Bourke said that Mayo County Council were not responsible for the removal of the signage.
However, she said that if signage is removed from an electricity pole or lamppost, it is quite often due to its location.
