All-Ireland winner Mr McHale surprises his students with Sam Maguire visit

Monday, 7th September 2026 is a day that will live long in the memory for all at Breaffy NS, Ballina.
For Sam Maguire to be visiting any school is a tremendous occasion, but for one of your teachers to be team vice-captain is something even more special.
So when Darren McHale (or Mr. McHale!) entered the hall with Liam Golden, Kobe McDonald and Sam Maguire, the children were in raptures.
Staff, both past and present, beamed with pride at the sight of the famous trophy in the Knockmore man's hands.
Darren, Kobe and Liam answered questions from the children, posed for some photos and sang along with songs to mark the momentous occasion.
Their patience and humility in evidence for all to see.
Our county is very lucky to have role models such as these.
And as the door closed behind the three All-Ireland winners, the memories and joy they left behind in the hearts of everyone in Breaffy NS will not soon be forgotten.
