Mayo County Council has been urged to put in place new CCTV under a bridge in Castlebar that has become an “unnerving” location for walkers.

The notice, which had been in place since July 12, was due to due to pollution from the sewerage treatment plant.

Castlebar councillors have voted to give the green light to a skate park development despite some objections from local residents. Residents from St Patrick’s Avenue addressed a meeting of Castlebar Municipal District on the issue.

A local community representative has said the main Castlebar to Erris roadway continues to be neglected by Mayo County Council.
