COMMUNITY NOTES: BALLINA - WESTERN PEOPLE (AUGUST 6 EDITION)

Pure Ballina, the largest street art project in County Mayo, and part of the annual Ballina Fringe Festival, is calling for submissions from artists who wish to be considered to create a new street art project in the town.

The project will entail two murals, one of the artist’s choosing and another in collaboration with two local community groups, and must be completed during this year’s festival, which runs from October 3 to 13. Two sites will be chosen within the town to host the murals.

Ballina Fringe Festival Street Art project is now in its sixth year and has transformed the visual landscape of Ballina town with substantial and visually dynamic scenes which are an instant attraction for locals and visitors alike.

This year’s collaboration theme is ‘Pure Ballina – United by Place’, which will look at the various communities within the town and what unites them.

The projects will involve at least six weeks contact time and be significant in time and scale.

The available budget is up to €8,000 and the selected artworks will need to last a minimum of two years, with no maintenance.

Applications should be sent to info@ballinafringefestival.ie before 5pm on Friday, August 16.
