24-hour haircut marathon currently ongoing in Ballina
Kevin Walsh of Kev's Kutz, Ballina, pictured here with customer Michael McDonnell, has been cutting hair since 6pm yesterday (March 15) as part of a 24-hour haircut marathon fundraiser for the Ballina Sensory Park
A Ballina barber is currently in the middle of a 24-hour Haircut Marathon to raise funds for the local Sensory Park project.
Around 6pm yesterday, Kevin Walsh of Kev’s Kutz on Market Square, began his 24-hour shift and has been cutting, chopping, shaving and shearing non-stop ever since.
Kevin worked through the night and has his sights set now on the finish line at 6pm today. However, if he keeps going into the evening time, he may well break the Irish record for the longest shift cutting hair which currently stands at 24 hours.
Support from Kev’s customers has been exceptional with a long line of customers arriving over the past 19 hours to get a fresh trim and support a local cause.
All money raised from the haircuts, including tips, will go towards support the Ballina Sensory Park and a raffle has also been organised to generate additional funds for this worthy cause. Among the top prizes is a year of free haircuts from Kev’s Kutz.
Raffle tickets are available at: €5 for 1 number ,€10 for 3 numbers.
