Man (60s) dies following road accident in Co Wexford

A man in his 60s has died following a road traffic incident in Co Wexford on Tuesday.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident, which occurred on the L4007 at Maudlin’s Cross, near New Ross, Co Wexford, at approximately 1:10pm.
The male driver of the only car involved in the incident was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
A Garda spokesperson said: "The coroner has been notified. No other injuries were reported at the time.
"The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.
"Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the L4007 near New Ross, Co Wexford, between 12:30pm and 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
