The completion of safety and road improvement works at the Windy Gap outside Castlebar has been welcomed. Local councillors had previously expressed grave concerns after forestry works left a steep embankment exposed to motorists.

Councillors have urged Mayo County Council to take action on a dangerous section of road at the Windy Gap near the town. Castlebar councillors made the comments at a recent meeting of Castlebar Municipal District.
