Local councillors want more clarity on the background to 25 public liability claims made against Mayo County Council in the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District last year.

An Achill-based councillor has called for public toilets to be opened this month at Keem Bay Beach to accommodate the footfall it has been receiving as a result of recent international acclaim.

The Head of the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District said it would be “most unfortunate” if councillors in the district became divided over the time of day their monthly meetings should be held.
