Luke wins KKU 50/50

Luke Conlon won the Kiltimagh/Knock United 50/50 draw last week. Luke took home €255 in the draw.

Cahal wins GAA jackpot

Cahal Burke was the winner of the Kiltimagh GAA 50/50 Jackpot last week. Cahal won €510 on a ticket bought in Ryan’s.

Seamus joins Mayo FC Under-15s 

Congratulations to Seamus Comer of Kiltimagh/Knock United, who has joined the Mayo FC Under-15 squad for the upcoming season.

Mayo welcome Athlone Town to Umbro Park, Castlebar, on February 22nd for their first outing.

Cards results 

First prize in the weekly 25 Card Drive in Kiltimagh was shared by Joe Boyle and Tom Conroy, and Danny Walsh and Danny Doherty. Third was also shared with four pairs on an equal number of games.

Mary and Jimmy Doyle tied with Tom Begley and Seamus Larkin, Denis Regan and Ciaran McDonnell and Kathleen Gill and John Walsh.

The Last 10 was shared by Collette Lavelle and Flor Higgins and Hugh Forde and Tom Walsh.

Spot Prize went to Patsy Flatley and Hilary Foley.

The raffle winners were Aidan Lydon, Mike Nolan, Collette Lavelle and Danny Doherty.

Lilly qualifies for RDS 

Congratulations to Lily Slattery whose showjumping achievements were honoured at the recent Connacht show jumping awards. 

Lily has qualified for the RDS again this summer - she was the highest-placed rider in the 120cm league, won the summer series final, was the winner of 135 young riders championships at the international show in Mullingar, and is a member of the children-on-horses team that won in the RDS in the summer of 2024. 

The future is looking very bright for Lily and show jumping.

Special Mass for crime victims 

To mark European Day for Crime Victims, which occurs annually on February 22nd, Kiltimagh-based Victim Assistance has organised a special Mass at Knock Basilica to be celebrated on Sunday next, February 23rd, at 12 noon. 

Representatives from the emergency services and victims of crime are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served afterwards in St John's Rest and Care Centre. The Kiltimagh Parish Choir will sing at the mass.

Bridge results 

Kathleen Morley and Sheila McNicholas were the recent winners of the weekly bridge session, which was held in The Park Hotel. 

Helen Tarpey and Nancy Shannon were second with Maureen Carney and Maeve Duffy finishing third.

Poker News

Newcomer Douglas Wicks took the honours winning first prize in Round 2 of the Spring Poker League in Teach O’Hora on Wednesday night last, which saw 20 players compete for a prize pool of €675. The runner-up was Derry O’Sullivan, Michael Sheridan was third and AN Other fourth. The other finalists were: 5th, Paul Walsh; 6th, AN Other; 7th, Nicky Cunnane; 8th, Dave Brennan and 9th, Pat Boyle. 

Michael Sheridan has moved to the top of the league table on 37 points just one ahead of Pat Boyle on 36. The rest of the top twelve is: Douglas Wicks 33, Derry O’Sullivan 28, AN Other 28, Isaac Boyle 27, Paul Walsh 25, Michael Higgins 23, John Reynolds 20, Dave Brennan 18, Martin Regan 18, Nicky Cunnane 18. 

The league runs for 15 weeks with tournaments every Wednesday night at 8pm. Entry is €20 with one rebuy OR add-on allowed, also €20. A total of €5 from each entry and rebuy goes towards the league final prize pool with the rest paid out on the night. 

At the end of the league, the top twelve players qualify for the Grand Final and they will be joined by two others from a last-chance play-off to play for an estimated prize pool of €2,000. 

A big congratulations to league regular Dave Brennan who beat a field of 112 entries to take first prize in the big KK Poker Tour event in Westport last week which boasted a total prize-pool of €14,000.

The late Martin Lee 

The death has occurred of Martin Lee, of Liscat, Knock. 

Martin passed peacefully in the care of the staff of Brookvale Nursing Home, Ballyhaunis, on February 4th. He was pre-deceased by his parents Winifred and John Lee, brother Bob and sister Mary (Grimes). 

Martin is deeply regretted by his brothers Tom and Seamus, sisters Winifred and Bridie, sister and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Martin was laid to rest in Knock Cemetery after Funeral Mass at the Church of St John The Baptist. 

May he rest in peace.
