Congratulations to Annette Bourke and David Noone who were married in St Brigid’s Church in Ballycastle on December 30th last. Pictured with them is David’s darling daughter and flower girl Zoe Noone. Annette is the daughter of Sean (RIP) and Helen Bourke, Annaghmore, Ballycastle. David is the son of Rose Noone, Gortmeer, Pullathomas. David and Annette are wished all the luck, love and happiness in the world from their family and friends.

Ireland Lights Up 

Naomh Padraig along with Ballycastle Athletic Club are taking part in the Ireland Lights Up GAA initiative. The walk takes place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm starting at Ballycastle Community Hall. Please wear high viz clothing and all children must be accompanied by an adult. All age groups are welcome.

Lacken

Children’s Mass

For the new year, Lacken Parish Council have taken the decision to start organising a children’s Mass that will happen on a monthly basis. The Mass will be aimed at the children and will allow anyone who is willing to participate. The children’s Mass for January will be held on January 26, at 10am with refreshments afterwards in The Failte Rooms.

Booking events

The Parish office in Killala will be open on Tuesday 11am-3pm, Wednesday 10am-3pm and Thursday 10am-1pm. All queries and Masses can be booked by either phoning the office on 096 32176 or emailing parishnotes@hotmail.com.

Mayo Mental Health Association 

The information centre in Bohernasup, Ballina, is open in the community. They provide options, support and guidance for individuals and their families experiencing mental health difficulties. The information centre provides a confidential sign posting service and the drop in service is open Monday to Wednesday from 9.30am to 4pm. Call 096 71492 for further information.

Gardening Club

The Gardening Club will resume on Tuesday, January 28 at 10am at Lacken Community Garden. The organisers look forward to welcoming new members. Just come along on the day.

Lacken Parish annual table quiz will take place in Bessies on Friday, February 28. Save the date.

Keep Fit Keep fit classes are held in Lacken Enterprise Centre on Thursday nights at 8pm with Conor Denneny from Ballina Sports Centre. They are suitable for all abilities and cost €7 per person.

The procedure is if you notice any suspicious activity you ring the Gardai on 096 20550 and they will decide if it warrants a text being sent to the scheme. If you are not already signed up it’s not too late, call to the community centre and fill up a form.

Meals on Wheels

Killala Community Council (Newstart) Ltd are running a meals on wheels service for Killala and surrounding areas. They aim to provide nourishing quality meals at an affordable price to any senior citizen who signs up. The meals will have two courses and can be collected or delivered. Orders can be taken up to 11.30 am each day. This service is available to anyone over 60 years or recovering from illness. If interested contact 096 32992/32484.
