Darkness Into Light Kiltimagh inaugural walk was a huge success

The Darkness Into Light Kiltimagh inaugural walk which took place on Saturday, May 11, at 4.15am was a massive success. Based on official online registered numbers (prior to the event) 500+ had already signed up, making it the biggest walk in Co Mayo and the biggest ‘new venue’ walk in the West of Ireland. Many more registered on the morning. The event took place as part of Pieta’s annual fundraiser to raise money for lifesaving suicide and self-harm prevention and was supported by Electric Ireland.

This walk was a credit to all involved underscoring the strength and vibrancy of the community spirit in Kiltimagh. The Darkness Into Light Kiltimagh committee thank everyone who took part and supported this very worthy cause. It was a very special occasion giving everybody the opportunity to share one beautiful sunrise together while remembering all those we’ve lost. The organisers look forward to doing it all over again (please God), in 2026.

Surplus food from the Kiltimagh Darkness Into Light event was donated to Nursing Homes in Ballinamore, Tooreen, and Knock as well as to community groups in the area.
