Glencastle Cemeteries

The Glencastle Cemeteries committee are pleased to inform parishioners and relatives of loved ones interred there that they recently carried out some improvements in the new cemetery completely from their (committee) own funds. They removed chippings along the driveway and laid decorative (designed) concrete; fitted numbers at each pathway to assist visitors locate graves; extended the water pipe to the back wall of the cemetery and fitted a tap for watering flowers at the far end of the cemetery. The tap is located beside the shed on the left-hand side. The committee express their thanks to the contractor Declan Sweeney for his efficiency and professionalism in carrying out the concrete work and to the volunteers who laid the pipe and fitted the tap. This follows on from their acquisition of a new altar shelter last year and now they hire in a PA service for each Mass, ably done by Damien Reilly.

The committee request that all items of rubbish bags, boards etc. are removed from the cemetery when work is complete as otherwise the committee volunteers will have to carry it out and this places an unfair burden of work on them. All this work was made possible by the generous donations of you the public and the committee are indeed very grateful for your continued support.

The committee also acknowledge the continued support of both local councillors Gerry Coyle and Sean Carey and the Rural Social Scheme members who work there under the supervision of Sean Carey. Grateful thanks goes to Andrew Howard Landscaping and Lennon Quarries.
