Over the next few weeks, a number of Erris Workability Clinics will take place where you can ask questions and find out more about what they do.
The drop-in clinics will take place in Geesala Community Centre (Wednesday, March 12); Ballycroy Visitor Centre (Wednesday, March 19); SOLAS, Eachléim (Friday, March 26); Teach Greannaí, Cornboy (Wednesday, April 2); Centra, Bangor Erris (Wednesday, April 9).

There was no winner of this week’s Kiltane GAA Club weekly lotto jackpot of €16,900 with the two €50 winners being Tommy McManamon, Tawnagh, and Geraldine O’Hogan, Dublin while Jimmy Flannery, Geesala and John and Tisha Cosgrove, Bellacorick both won €25.
The two online winners were Jarlath Mangan, Cloontakilla (€50) and Leanne Nallen, Aughalasheen (€25).
Bingo will take place in the GAA complex in Bangor this Tuesday, March 11, at 8pm. The jackpot will be €500 in 45 calls or less.

Our Lady's Secondary School in Belmullet recently celebrated Flag Day.
Flag Day is a nationwide event that takes place in participating schools across the country in advance of St Patrick's Day. It is connected to the Thomas Francis Meagher Foundation, which promotes pride in and respect for the Irish flag and its symbolism and meaning for peace.
The school was delighted to have had some students from Scoil Bhreandáin in Eachléim as guest performers who were a fantastic addition to the proceedings.
Well done to Colin Holmes, from Doohoma who became the 2025 Mayo Pool Champion in an epic match against Stephen 'Jinx' Jennings recently that went all the way to 8-8 and a deciding frame that could have gone either way.
Well done to Jinx who played mesmerising pool all weekend as well as in the final.
Colin is a deserving winner of a Mayo title and the only surprise is that this is his first Mayo Championships win.
Congratulations also to Rita Walsh who became the 2025 Ladies Mayo Pool champion to make it a double for Erris. Rita is a class player who has won multiple titles now.

A very productive annual general meeting of Ballyglass RNLI was held at the Inshore Station. The unit had a number of new volunteers sign up to help and some members stepping back but thankfully not away from the service.
Reports were given by the committee on the previous year and its success. The same committee was returned after some discussion, and a commitment was given for another year.
Tributes were paid to all the local people and businesspeople who are a constant support to the service in Erris.
Ballyglass RNLI is delighted to say that it is being hosted once again by Carne Golf Club in October for another great golfing event, details of which are to follow. As always, they are on the lookout for whiskey donations for the calendar event on Heritage Day in August.
Chairperson Michael Cosgrove wished everyone well before closing the meeting. If you would like to join the team just message them or if you want to host them for a fundraiser let them know and they can work something out.

The Ballyglass Coast Guard unit recently had the pleasure of seeing two members, Michael S. Togher and Pauline Geraghty, receive their 10-year service medals, presented by Sector Manager Róisin McBride.
The medals recognise ten years of dedication and commitment in serving the community.

A vacancy exists for a person with administration skills to join the Kilmore Rural Social Scheme to work between the Erris Agricultural Show committee and the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) for 19.5 hours per week.
To be eligible for the scheme you must be in receipt of a means-tested payment from the Department of Social Protection and have a herd number in your own name or in the name of your father/mother or brother/sister. In the case of a fisherperson, you must have proof of fishing in your own name.

The draw in the Kilcommon Community Development Lotto took place on March 3, and the numbers drawn were 8, 12, 18, and 26 with no winner of the €9,800 jackpot.
The house prize winner (€100) was Stephen Meenaghan, Foxpoint and the €30 offline winners were Mary Gallagher (G), Gorthmeer and Boris Pri, Belderrig. The €30 online winners were Nora McGarry, Glenamoy and Shona Coultry, Belderrig.
