Peugeot has introduced its new 5008, a seven-seat SUV available with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains.

BEV versions include an electric 210bhp, a 230bhp Long Range version, and an electric 320bhp Dual Motor with AWD which starts production in May. The hybrid is a 136bhp variant.
Long Range electric versions arriving here in Q2 of this year have a 668km WLTP range which Peugeot says is best-in-class for a large SUV.
Both the electric and MHEV versions are offered at the same price from €50,995; the Long Range is from €55,495, and the GT is an extra €4,000.
The car we drove at launch was the Hybrid GT 136bhp e-DCS6 with an annual road tax of €210 and an on-the-road price of €54,995 (not including metallic paint or delivery).
Peugeot aims to be the mainstream EV leader in Europe.
Ahead of the first units of Opel’s New Grandland plug-in-hybrid arriving here this summer, this version has undergone a range test that saw Opel’s flagship SUV model cover a total of 1,115km on just one tank of fuel combined with a fully charged battery.
The Grandland PHEV achieved an overall consumption of 4.6 L/100km at an average speed of 80km over the cycle and was driven until it ran out of fuel. The car was fitted with winter tyres as required at this time of the year in Germany.
The powertrain for the PHEV is based on a 1.6-turbo petrol along with an electric motor, giving a combined total output of 195hp.
The Grandland Electric currently available here is priced from €39,065 including grants, and the Grandland Hybrid with 48-volt technology from €40,995 plus delivery. Prices for the PHEV for the Irish market will be announced closer to launch.
