Mayo IFA will continue to call for the resignation of the Bord Bia Chairman, Mr Larry Murrin, with the County Executive inviting all Mayo County Councillors to an open information meeting to cover the four municipal areas of the county at two different locations.

Mayo IFA County Chairman Mr. John Lynskey said, “It seems that the main political parties are not being told the full truth on this matter and IFA are asking the County Councillors to attend an open information meeting in their area on the matter.”

The first of these meetings took place on Monday, March 2nd in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh and covered the municipal areas of Ballina and Claremorris /Swinford.

The second meeting will take place in the Westport Woods Hotel, Westport, on Thursday, March 5th, to cover the municipal areas of Castlebar and Westport /Belmullet.

Mr Lynskey said that the recent Red C poll in last Sunday’s Business Post showed clearly that the vast majority of the public want Larry Murrin removed as chairman of Bord Bia.

Accountability is paramount and at present, farmers across the entire country have lost confidence in Bord Bia under its current chairman.

The Minister for Agriculture has the power to remove Mr Murrin, but for whatever reason, the Minister will not do what the will of the people are demanding.

The Westport meeting is scheduled for an 8 pm start.
