Honda introduces new HR-V to Irish market

This latest version, with a sleek coupe-inspired form, is longer and wider than before but retains the same wheelbase.

Honda has introduced a new generation of its HR-V SUV at a start price of €41,750, writes Trish Whelan.

This latest version, with a sleek coupe-inspired form, is longer and wider than before but retains the same wheelbase.

The powertrain is a petrol hybrid with a total output of 131hp and a rated fuel economy of 5.4 L/100km. The engine package comprises a 1.5 Atkinson-cycle unit with two electric motors.

The car comes with a full suite of driver-assist features, but with an interior design emphasis on traditional climate and audio volume switchgear and a relatively small touchscreen to minimise distraction. The new model comes with the carmaker’s versatile rear Magic Seats that offer both ‘fold-flat’ or ‘flip-up’ flexibility depending on the cargo space required.

There are four grades to choose from. The new HR-V is now available to order from the Honda dealer network.
