Local portrait artist Laura Hennigan, based along the Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo, has launched her first solo exhibition, Solas, at Ballina Library. The exhibition opened on Friday, June 6th, with a well-attended evening event.

Known for her expressive charcoal portraits, Laura’s work blends striking realism with Irish cultural motifs, including Celtic symbols and Irish-language titles that honour her heritage.

“This is such a personal milestone for me,” Laura said on the night. “It’s been 18 months in the making, and it’s incredibly special to share this body of work with the public.”

The exhibition runs until the end of June, with prints available for purchase – perfect for art lovers, collectors, and those drawn to Irish mythology and portraiture.
