HSE told to take chage of Droimnin Nursing Home in Laois over 'health and safety'

The Health Service Executive (HSE) has been directed to take charge of Droimnin Nursing Home in Brockley Park, Stradbally, Co Laois.
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) said the HSE was directed to take charge of the nursing home from 2pm on Wednesday "in the interests of the health, safety and quality of life of the residents".
The statement said: "On Wednesday 4 February 2026, pursuant to Section 59 of the Health Act 2007 (as amended), an order was made by Portlaoise District Court cancelling the registration of Droimnin Nursing Home, Brockley Park, Stradbally, Co Laois as a designated centre under Part 8 of the Health Act 2007.
"In the interests of the health, safety and quality of life of the residents, and in accordance with Section 64 of the Health Act 2007, the Health Service Executive (HSE) was directed to take charge of the nursing home from 2pm on Wednesday 4 February 2026."
