Historic Mayo venue to host a very special concert
Fainne Or creator and composer, Kathy Fahey, a native of Belcarra.
A lovely one-hour concert in the beautiful venue of Christ Church on The Mall, Castlebar, takes place this Friday, October 18, showcasing the soundtrack of Fainne Oir, the original orchestral composition by Mayo native, Kathy Fahey.
Fainne Oir premiered in the TF Royal back in 2019 following which it played to huge success on Broadway in the US.
Those familiar with the soundtrack to the Great Famine-themed work will know that the Fainne Oir musical score leads audiences on a roller-coaster of emotions, through upbeat dance rhythms and lively melodies to bleating tug-at-the-heartstrings ballads that reflect the ups and downs of a trans-Atlantic love story played out during challenging times.
All are invited to come along and support a true Mayo talent, local composer and Belcarra native Kathy Fahey, as she leads Mayo Concert Orchestra - strings, percussion, brass, drums, as well as guest musician and uilleann pipe player Diarmuid Moynihan through the soundtrack pieces, in this special one-off Fainne Oir by Candlelight concert, this Friday at 8pm.
