A teenage girl has died following a crash involving a scrambler motorbike in Dublin, gardaí said.

It happened on the Ratoath Road in Finglas at around 2.20pm on Sunday.

In a statement gardaí said the girl, a pedestrian, was brought to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she died from her injuries.

A teenage boy has been arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.

Two teenagers on the bike were treated for “non life-threatening” injuries.

One was described as “an adult male, aged in his late teens” and the other a “male juvenile”.

Gardaí said forensic investigators examined the scene and the road has now reopened.

They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

In particular, anyone who has camera footage of the area taken between 2.10pm and 2.40pm is asked to make it available to gardai.
