Danny McDonald, Jack Naughton, and James Maheady tacked on points which Jack McHale replied to with three points. Niall Coggins replied with a goal and Diarmuid Walsh, Aaron Coggins and James Maheady added points. Jack McHale and Barry Gaughan reduced the lead with points each to leave the hosts comfortable winners in the end after a very entertaining game of attacking football and great defending by both sides. The whole community of Moygownagh and the surrounding area was surprised and saddened on Sunday last when news broke of the passing of Eddie Staunton. Eddie has a special place in the hearts of all the community, as a public representative for many years. Eddie was unique in his accessibility to all and his desire to help. Eddie’s achievements and his contribution to the local area and many and varied. The projects he was involved in and helped get funding for include the local water scheme, local sewage scheme, the local housing development, local GAA and Community Centre, the IT and Childcare projects and many road safety projects.
Eddie had a great love of music. He was an accomplished musician playing with The Deel Rhythm Orchestra in his younger days . Eddie also supported Scor and Readoiri helping Moygownagh achieve success up to All Ireland level. He was generous with is time for practice sessions. Moygownagh would be a very different place without Eddie’s contributions. Condolences are offered to his wife Margaret, daughters Geraldine and Mairead, sons Eamonn and Brian and his extended family.
