Former Man City and Preston player makes move home to the West

There has been a big transfer scoop for the League of Ireland following an announcement by Galway United this morning.
Galway man Greg Cunningham, formerly of Manchester City and most recently Preston North End, has returned to his native county to play League of Ireland football.
Cunningham, who has been capped four times by the senior national side, departed Deepdale following the conclusion of the 2023/24 English Championship season.

During his professional career, the experienced defender (33) has played for notable clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Bristol City, Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.
Last campaign, the ex-Mervue United youngster made 12 appearances for the Lilywhites in the English second tier as they finished mid-table.
Back in Ireland, the Tribesmen currently sit level on points with Sligo Rovers on the Premier Division table, with both teams just three points adrift of the European spots.
Galway United and the 'Bit O'Red' go head to head in the league next weekend (Saturday, July 27) at the Showgrounds.
