Footballer with Mayo roots secures €1 million move to top league in Europe

Professional footballer John Joe Patrick Finn, who has roots in the Mayo town of Ballyhaunis, has secured a move to the French top flight to join Stade de Reims.
The 21-year-old midfielder transfers to Ligue 1 after impressing during his time with La Liga outfit Getafe CF.
The former Real Madrid youth prospect made four league appearances for Getafe this season, including a 24-minute cameo off the bench against Kylian Mbappé and Co at the Santiago Bernabéu last month.

Patrick Finn's father hailed from Devlis, Ballyhaunis, making him eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland.
The transfer fee to Reims is believed to be around €1 million. Luka Elsner's side currently sit in 12th place on the table.
