Boy (12) struck in hit-and-run in Co Donegal

Gardaí are seeking a motorist after a young boy was struck by a car in Co Donegal on Friday night.

The incident happened in the village of Dunfanaghy at approximately 5.20pm.

It is understood that the boy was with his brother when the incident occurred on the village's Main Street.

The boy was not seriously injured and did not require immediate medical treatment.

Gardaí are still trying to identify the motorist involved in the incident.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Daily that "gardaí received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian which occurred on Main St, Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal on Friday 20th of March 2026, at approximately 5:20pm.

"The pedestrian, a male juvenile, did not require immediate medical treatment.

"The motorist involved has yet to be identified.
