Ballina Salmon Festival: Beloved maritime tradition returns

Cruinniú na mBád takes place in Ballina on Monday, July 14 at 7.30pm. The meeting point is at Bachelors Walk.

One of the highlights of the Ballina Salmon Festival returns at 7.30pm on Monday, July 14, when 'Criunniu na mBád: A Gathering of the Boats' takes place.

It promises to be a very special evening celebrating the living tradition of watersports on the Moy estuary that honours the jewel in Ballina’s crown, the beautiful River Moy, chief attraction of the Salmon Capital of Ireland.

Ballina’s boating enthusiasts are reviving an age-old tradition once hosted annually on the river, bringing colour and community spirit back to its waters with a vibrant display of boats and activity.

Enjoy an evening steeped in maritime heritage, local pride, and festive celebration. In the spirit of the very first gathering, complimentary glasses of Guinness will be served alongside brown bread and smoked salmon. This was a simple, heartfelt gesture that made the occasion truly memorable.

Music on the night will be performed by the wonderful Foxford Brass and Reed Band.

The Ballina Salmon Festival committee look forward to welcoming you by the river for this much-loved celebration.
